Hi, my name is Beverly Hamilton. I have three great cats, Tiger, Smokey and Oliver. As much as I love my cats, clipping their nails has never been easy. Before my husband died he would hold them and I would clip their nails. They hated it and so did we. We got bitten and scratched a lot. But if we didn’t clip their nails they would really tear up our furniture, especially our sofa. After my husband passed away my sister invited me to move in with her. I didn’t want her furniture ruined like mine.
I had an expensive scratching post but it didn’t help shorten my cat’s claws. I started buying anything that was supposed to help file my cats nails. I even tried the electric pedipaws. It scared Oliver so bad he bit me hard when I tried to get his nail into it.
I was moving to my sister’s house in less then a month and had to find a solution. That night I saw the Emery Cat commercial on TV again and decided to give it a try.
The Emery Cat Unveiling
I called Tiger, Oliver and Smokey to me when the EmeryCat was delivered. I think they just came because they could smell the catnip in the package. They were all very curious as I opened the box and started pulling out their new scratching boards.
Emery Cat Review – The Good News
I snapped the scratching board to the frame quite easily, put in the fuzzy play toy and sprinkled the catnip on the board and waited to see what would happen. All three cats loved it! They took turns playing with the toy, sniffing and scratching on the board. I could instantly see this was going to do the job.
I liked:
- It was very easy to assemble.
- The scratching board is very durable and should last a long time.
- It only took about a week for all my cat’s claws to be filed to the right length.
- They really like the catnip so they spend a lot of time filing their nails.
- It was very easy to order on the website.
- It got two for the price of one and the free de-shedders just as advertised.
- Tiger, Oliver and Smokey have stopped clawing on my sofa!
Emery Cat Review – The Not So Good News
As much as I love the scratcher there are a couple of things that you should know.
- The cats like it so much if you have more then one cat in your house you will need more than one EmeryCat board.
- It slides across tile or linoleum floors when the cats scratch on it so you will need to put it on a rug or on the carpet.
- The catnip only lasts about two months so you will need to buy some to keep the cats coming back.
Emery Cat Review – My Recommendation
I have been at my sister’s house for five months now and my cats have not scratched any of her furniture. The emery cat keeps their claws filed and keeps my sister and me happy. Would I recommend it to my friends? I already have. I tell everyone about it.
If you are tired of the trauma, the biting and scratching of trying to file your cat’s claws and want to save your furniture from being torn up I really recommend the emery cat scratching board.
